Free equipment and training for aspiring DJs from low-income backgrounds
The Problem
Thousands of youth have the passion and talent to be successful DJs. Yet DJs under 18 make up only 5% of the market. Why? Most just don’t have the money for equipment and training.
A starter DJ kit can cost upwards of $2,000, with industry standard A/V equipment costing much, much more. This can make it nearly impossible for many youth to explore this opportunity.
84% of 16- to 24-year-olds don't know. how to turn their passions into careers.
49% say lack of qualifications stops them from exploring careers they seek.
Schools across the nation are suffering extreme budget cuts which often result in a reduction or removal of arts programs. This has only accelerated during the COVID crisis.

People for DJs is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of existing and aspiring DJs and musicians. Our north star is to create a community that facilitates the collaboration of DJs to support each other, strengthen each other professionally and to build the next generation of musicians and entertainers.
